Shigeru Narita
Shigeru Narita is a Senior Consultant at Shingijutsu Global Consulting, with more than five decades of experience within the Toyota Group and in Kaizen-based management. His career reflects deep, hands-on involvement in the Toyota Production System, working directly with its originators and later applying these principles globally as a consultant.
He began his professional career in 1968 at Toyota Boshoku Corporation, initially assigned to the Gifu Plant and later to the Oguchi Minami Plant. After gaining additional experience at the group company Fujinami Knit, he was seconded to Toyota Motor Corporation, Materials Division, from 1980 to 1983. Upon returning to Toyota Boshoku, he joined the Production Control Division’s Toyota Autonomous Study Group, where he worked for 14 years under the direct guidance of Taiichi Ohno and Senji Niwa, promoting Kaizen across in-house operations, affiliated companies, and supplier organizations.
In 1997, he was appointed Co-General Manager of Production Control, and in 1998 became Chief Leader of the New Production Preparation Division. In this role, he was responsible for Production Preparation Process (3P) activities, the launch of new oil filter production, and the construction of new manufacturing facilities. From 1999 to 2004, he served as General Manager of Manufacturing at the Kariya, Toyohashi, and Oguchi plants, leading plant-wide Kaizen initiatives.
Following his retirement from Toyota Boshoku, he served as President and CEO of Toyota Boshoku Service Corporation and later as Executive Vice President of Toyota Boshoku Logistics Service Corporation, where he advanced distribution Kaizen in domestic transportation and international logistics.
Since joining Shingijutsu Global Consulting in 2009, he has provided Kaizen and Lean consulting in Japan and internationally. His work included on-site Kaizen, seminar instruction, healthcare-focused Kaizen in North America, and leadership of Japan-based programs such as KPO tours and seminars on 3P, Kanban, and Gemba Kaizen.
