Hideo Kunisawa
Dr. Hideo Kunisawa is a Senior Consultant at Shingijutsu Global Consulting, with a distinguished career spanning manufacturing, academia, and management consulting. His expertise combines deep theoretical knowledge with extensive hands-on experience in the Toyota Production System, Kaizen, Just-In-Time, and advanced quality and management methodologies.
He began his professional career in 1971 at Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd., where he was assigned to the Engineering Department and engaged in the development of automotive paint and resin technologies. In parallel, he trained employees in quality control disciplines, including Hoshin Kanri (Policy Management), statistical quality control, reliability engineering, QC Circle activities, and TPS. In 1990, he joined the Management Control Promotion Office, contributing to company-wide improvements in quality control systems and statistical methods. After obtaining Management Engineering certification in 1993, he served as a specialist in quality control, statistical analysis, and TPS.
In 1998, he earned a Doctorate in Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, with research focused on problem solving using the Taguchi Method and advanced statistical techniques applied to operations management.
From 2000 to 2017, he served as a professor at Asahi University and later Chubu Gakuin University, where he provided education and practical training in management strategy, production control, quality assurance, TPS, TPM, and 5S. He also emphasized Kaizen-based learning through company visits and applied case studies.
Between 2003 and 2012, he served as a member of the Deming Prize Committee, conducting diagnostics and evaluations for leading organizations in Japan and internationally. Since joining Shingijutsu Global Consulting in 2017, he has continued to support organizations through Gemba-based Kaizen, Lean management, quality improvement, and operational excellence across manufacturing and service industries.
