Tsuneo Uchida
Tsuneo Uchida is a Senior Consultant at Shingijutsu Global Consulting, with more than five decades of experience in manufacturing, logistics, and Kaizen-based management across global operations. He began his consulting activities with Shingijutsu Global Consulting in 2022, following an extensive career in industrial manufacturing and production system deployment.
From 1970 to 2009, he served at KYB Corporation, where he held a wide range of technical and managerial roles. His early career focused on production engineering and experimental development, including the mass production of core products through advanced casting and heat treatment technologies. He later led supplier consolidation initiatives, improving quality, cost, and delivery performance while promoting QC Circle activities among suppliers.
In 1993, he was assigned to the Kaizen Promotion Office, supporting Toyota Autonomous Study Group activities and leading the internal deployment of the Toyota Production System (TPS). His work emphasized gemba-based problem identification, waste elimination, and structured problem-solving, contributing to KYB’s recognition as a Toyota-designated Kaizen model plant in 2000.
From 1999 onward, he led TPS implementation at Siam KYB in Thailand, transforming the production system from batch-based scheduling to JIT fill-up production. These initiatives achieved significant improvements in productivity, inventory reduction, quality performance, and manpower efficiency, and were later deployed horizontally to plants in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brazil. He subsequently served as Vice President of KYB Manufacturing North America, strengthening productivity through 5S, visual management, and multi-skilled workforce development, and later as Plant Manager of KYB Logistics Co., Ltd., where he led logistics strategy and lead-time reduction initiatives.
After retiring from KYB, he supported production system development at global machinery manufacturers, including SANY Group and Zoomlion, where he promoted TPS-based production systems and contributed to new plant and line launches. From 2015 to 2022, he focused on management and engineer development at Onda Manufacturing Co., Ltd., emphasizing logistics improvement, cost management, and production readiness. He currently provides consulting services specializing in gemba Kaizen, JIT production, logistics improvement, quality enhancement, and cost reduction.
