Hirohide Ogawa
Hirohide Ogawa is a Senior Consultant at Shingijutsu Global Consulting, with over 40 years of experience in manufacturing operations, quality management, and global plant management within the Toyota Group. He began his consulting activities in 2024, following an extensive career at Toyota Boshoku Corporation and its overseas affiliates.
He joined Toyota Boshoku in 1981 and was initially engaged in machining and assembly processes for compressor manufacturing at the Kariya Plant. As a member of the Toyota Autonomous Study Group, he actively promoted Kaizen activities through QC circle initiatives and suggestion programs, contributing to improvements in quality and productivity.
From 1988 to 2002, he served in quality assurance roles at the Oguchi Plant, where he was responsible for quality control of interior and exterior automotive parts. During this period, he utilized statistical quality control (SQC) methods to drive quality improvement initiatives, including new project launches for interior system suppliers.
Between 2003 and 2007, he was involved in overseas production preparation (3P) and production planning within the Production Engineering divisions. He contributed to the establishment and expansion of manufacturing facilities in Thailand, China, the United States, and other regions by developing efficient factory and process designs based on TPS principles.
From 2007 to 2012, he served as Plant Manager and later President of Toyota Boshoku Shiga Corporation, where he led the start-up of a new company and factory, established production and cost management systems, achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, and embedded autonomous Kaizen activities to strengthen profitability.
From 2012 to 2022, he served as President of Toyota Boshoku Mississippi, leading plant start-up operations, new customer acquisition, and new product launches. Through systematic Kaizen and JIT-based initiatives, he achieved cost reductions exceeding 30% and restored profitability. He later supported global TQM deployment at Toyota Boshoku headquarters before joining Shingijutsu Global Consulting.
