Hiromasa Toma
Hiromasa Toma is a Senior Consultant at Shingijutsu Global Consulting with more than four decades of experience in manufacturing operations and quality management in the automotive industry. His professional foundation is rooted in the Toyota Production System (TPS), with particular emphasis on Kaizen, Just-in-Time (JIT), Jidoka (built-in quality), and the principle that quality must be built into the process rather than inspected at the end. He has consistently promoted sustainable improvement through structured human resource development and shop-floor capability building.
He began his career at Toyota Boshoku Corporation in 1984 in the Quality Assurance Department, where he was responsible for quality assurance of automotive air cleaner products at both the Head Office and the Kariya Plant. During a secondment to DENSO Corporation, he managed customer claims and developed practical countermeasure methodologies based on root-cause analysis and process stabilization. He later assumed responsibility for in-process quality control, durability evaluation, and recurrence prevention, and supported resin product transfers at Toyota Motor Corporation’s Motomachi Plant, contributing to the establishment of company-wide quality standards.
From 2000 onward, he played a central role in production control and plant integration initiatives, overseeing safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environmental performance across multiple facilities. He strengthened management systems and revitalized QC Circle activities, fostering autonomous problem-solving capabilities.
In subsequent leadership roles within Corporate and Global Quality Management and the TQM Promotion Office, he directed company-wide and global QC Circle promotion for nearly a decade. He organized improvement conferences, conducted leader and advisor training programs, and supported overseas regions including the Americas, Europe, Oceania, and China. As an IATF 16949 Lead Auditor, he advanced the integration of quality management into daily operations, reinforcing global quality governance and operational excellence.
