Japan Tour Conducted for Avon
Dates: Monday, November 17 – Friday, November 21, 2025
SGC conducted a five-day Japan Tour for its client Avon, focused on learning the principles of the Toyota Production System and Kaizen through both classroom instruction and on-site observation at Japanese manufacturing facilities.
Morning Lectures and Afternoon Gemba Visits
Each day began with morning lectures on TPS and Kaizen, covering key concepts such as waste elimination, standardization, and how to observe and think from a Kaizen perspective.
In the afternoons, participants visited actual factory sites, where they were able to see how the concepts discussed in the morning were applied in real operations.
This structure allowed participants to immediately connect theory with practice and deepen their understanding through direct observation.
Participant Feedback
Feedback from participants highlighted the strong value of the program:
-
“Seeing TPS principles applied in real factory environments was extremely valuable.”
-
“What we learned in the morning lectures became clear during the afternoon site visits.”
-
“The tour provided concrete ideas and perspectives we can apply to our own operations.”
-
“It reinforced that Kaizen is not just a set of tools, but a way of thinking and a culture.”
Many participants commented that they returned with a clearer vision of how to implement Kaizen within their own organizations.
Value of the Japan Tour
This Japan Tour went beyond a simple factory visit.
It provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on why certain practices work, how they can be adapted, and what is essential regardless of culture or location.
SGC will continue to support its clients by offering practical, experience-based programs that help organizations implement and sustain Kaizen at the Gemba.
